Abbey People is based in Cambridge and is a vibrant community group encouraging creativity and communication through work and play, indoors and outdoors. We have seasonal festivals, socials and events, creative workshops, theatre, singing, nature days, and more; for all ages: babes & tots, children, adults, and seniors.

We are particularly keen to encourage residents to get involved and volunteer with us. Volunteer opportunities range from supporting us with events, youth activities, community orchard or anything else you might like to offer us. All volunteers can earn timecredits for volunteering their time with us.

We work with adults across Cambridgeshire who are looking for support and care. We help people to identify strengths and work towards outcomes. We provide information and advice, Occupational Therapy and Assistive Technology equipment, reablement care, signpost to services and refer people for full social care assessments where appropriate.

Arts on Prescription free daytime workshops are led by professional artists and supported by a qualified counsellor, taking place weekly in local venues.  A ‘hands-on art workshop’, it is not art therapy, although participants find it therapeutic!

Beginners are welcome, a mixed group where participants can try out different techniques.

Housing and debt casework to the AQS and comply with FCA regulation two days per week. Including advice, advocacy and representation at all stages throughout the possession procedure and across all tenures.

Debt advice and income maximisation service at the Customer Services City Centre half day per week.

Our Housing Advice Service offers free, confidential advice. We can help you with a range of housing issues. We manage the housing register for Cambridge City, assess homeless applications, help people into private rented accommodation, offer advice and assistance and much more. CCA run creative year-long and short courses in Cambridge & Fenland. Our year-long courses lead to a Level 2 Certificate in Skills for the Creative Industries. Classes are small and face-to-face classes are held in Community Centres. We also online short courses. We particularly welcome people who have experience of mental ill-health or who face other challenges.

C3 offers 5 CAP services to the public. There is no charge for any of the services and they are open to those of all and/or no faith.

1. CAP Debt Centre – A service to support those who wish to be debt free.
2. CAP Job Club – An 8 week course ( runs 3/4 times a year) to give support with job seraching: CV’s, role play, mock interviews etc.
3. CAP Lifeskills – An 8 week course for those on low incomes. Interactive and it addresses budgeting, meal planning, managing relationships etc.
4. CAP Release Group – A course to support with addictions : drugs, alcohol, social media, behaviours etc Contacts for these are : 0800 328 0006
5. Money Matter – 2 evenings to give accessible and practical support for managing a budget whatever the income.

Open Lunch Café is a space to eat together, connect and belong whilst reducing food waste. The café provides and serves warm, tasty and low cost meals made from supermarket’s superfluous food in a friendly environment where people’s physical and relational needs are met. According to Oxford University psychology professor Robin Dunbar, ‘taking the time to sit down together over a meal helps create social networks that in turn has profound effects on our physical and mental health, our happiness and wellbeing, and even our sense of purpose in life’.

CCVS is an independent registered charity, set up by local organisations in the 1970’s, to provide a central source of expert help and advice for local groups.  Our purpose is to support charitable organisations by providing them with the tools they need to keep going.  We provide training, one-to-one consultancy and advice to help community and voluntary groups set up, develop and grow in Cambridge, South Cambridgeshire and Fenland. Services are classified under three broad headings.

We provide accommodation for 68 homeless individuals with Cambridge City, helping them to access treatments and work towards sustainable move on to independent living.  We also support a further 20 people in their own tenancies who may be at risk of losing their accommodation or at risk due to vulnerability.

We provide support to people of the age of 50 in their own tenancies within the city of Cambridge.

 Referrals are made through existing homeless agencies, for those individuals who are at risk of homelessness or have experienced it previously.

We run an allotment project from Whitehills Allotment site on Tuesdays and Thursday mornings 10-1.

We pick up from Wintercomfort for those people needed transport to site. The group is for anyone at risk of homelessness or linked in with homelessness services.

We provide single room accommodation for single homeless within Cambridge City.

 We have 12 projects of varying sizes dependant on support needs.

 Referrals in to the projects should come via the City Council referral pathway and Inform but anyone wanting further information should contact the main office number.

Debt advice for people with unmanaged debts.

Individual face to face budget coaching for people concerned about falling into debt, in debt, or recently out of debt.

Our office is based at Barnwell Baptist church. We offer flexible hours both during the day and the evenings.

We provide one to one training on personal computers, laptops, tablets and smartphones. We teach digital skills, including searching and applying for jobs, literacy and numeracy skills, shopping online, socialising online, leisure and healthy living. We specialise in helping disabled and disadvantaged people, but our services are open to all.

Re-used, recycled furniture, white goods, and household items for people on a low income or benefits. Proof of income required.

Change Grow Live Cambridge Street & Mental Health Outreach Team (CSMHOT) is a street and community-based service that identifies and works with people over the age of 18 in the City of Cambridge, who are either rough sleeping or engaged in a street-based lifestyle.
We provide advice and access to accommodation, primary health care, substance misuse services and welfare benefits.
We have a dedicated project worker who works with rough sleepers that are from Central and Eastern Europe and a Homeless Prevention officer who works with people leaving the psychiatric hospital to prevent homeless discharge.

If you would like to be referred to the service, please attend Winter Comfort’s welfare service on Monday, Wednesday and Friday where CSMHOT run a surgery from 8.30am – 10.00am or Tuesday 12.00pm – 13.30pm or contact the office between 8am to 4pm, Monday to Friday to arrange an alternative location.

Recovery College East provides a collaborative, educational learning environment and aims to convey messages of hope, empowerment and opportunity to all. It celebrates strengths and successes rather than highlighting deficits or problems.

Whether you want to develop new skills or increase your understanding of mental health challenges, you will find that the college is a relaxed, friendly place to learn with lots of support on hand if you should need it.

CCORRN is a community based membership organisation, everyone is welcome to become a member and access quality paint at affordable prices (from as little as 50p a litre).  Decorating packs and bulk order purchases are also available.

CPSL Mind is the local Mind charity for residents of Cambridgeshire, Peterborough and South Lincolnshire.

We provide a wide range of services to support those recovering from mental health challenges, promote positive mental health and tackle mental health-related stigma and discrimination within our communities.

Money Matters Service (by telephone, email and home visit) available for residents of Cambridge Housing Society (CHS Group), tenants of Hundred Houses Society referred in by HH staff’  and clients of CPSL Mind Goodlife Service referred in by CPSL Mind staff, living in Cambridgeshire.

Free monthly events with lots of ideas for decorating, design and DIY on a budget. Each event has themed activities suitable for everyone and children welcome if under adult supervision. Free membership of CCORRN, the recycling charity for Cambridgeshire is available to the first 5 claiming each month.

Also free drinks and snacks plus pop up paint shop.

Working intensively with people with a brain injury on a weekly basis, helping them with activities such as budgeting, shopping, accessing transport, using community facilities

Jimmy’s Cambridge provides 24/7 emergency accommodation for adults who find themselves homeless in the Cambridge area. We are there for them in a crisis, providing not only food and shelter but hope, opportunities and general and specialist support as we work together to find them suitable, safe accommodation

Post 19 years provision. Offering part-time leisure and academic courses in the following areas; Arts and Crafts, Mind and Body, English and Maths, Modern Foreign Languages, Computing, English as a Foreign Language, General. Courses are on offer in Cambridge daytimes, evenings and weekend.

Referral agencies must complete the online referral form. Little Bundles volunteers will advise about available stock and arrange pick-up or delivery of the “bundle”. It is then the referrer’s responsibility to pass on the “bundle” to the family.

Please note: To maintain confidentiality of families and service users Little Bundles is unable to have direct contact with families.

We support the families and friends of people with mental health conditions in this area. We do this through support groups a phone line and informal advocacy. We are carers helping other carers.

We collect and distribute donated furniture across Cambridgeshire. We also help with garden tidying and decorating etc.

The Kite Trust is a registered charity based in Cambridge which was established in 1993.
We run different services to improve the health, well-being and inclusion for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender young people living in Cambridgeshire. Our three main areas of work are: services such as weekly drop in groups across the county, 1-2-1 support, volunteering and creative arts projects. Training and awareness raising for local professionals around a wide range of issues relating to young people’s sexual orientation or gender identity and school based services, running workshops, training and support for schools.

The Meadows provides support services and information to improve the lives, relationships and wellbeing of families in North Cambridge.We run advice, support drop-in sessions for local families with pre school aged children. Clubs for children aged 5 to 11 years old children need to be referred. We deliver programmes for women experiencing domestic violence and confidence and self esteem courses.

Work experience and youth support at events across the city – assisting with tasks such as serving of the food and drinks, set up and clear down. Events include charity, private and community bookings. Opportunity to help with some events that are run by Turtle Dove, often for older people.

We are a small local charity providing specialist advice, support and advocacy for people of all ages with disabilities throughout Huntingdonshire and South Cambridgeshire. We support with form preparation for disability benefits, attendance allowance, support with the preparation of appeal documentation and support at tribunal. We also offer signposting, information and advice and home visits.
